UNMC’s Miss Nebraska aims to promote science in schools

Nicole Haverland, a graduate student in the department of pharmacology and experimental neuroscience, has been named Miss Nebraska.

She takes over for Teresa Scanlan, who vacated her state crown after she was named Miss America earlier this month.

Haverland was Miss Douglas County and finished third runner up to Scanlan in the Miss Nebraska pageant in October.

Her pageant platform was to advocate for more science education in schools, a message she plans to advance during her term as Miss Nebraska.
