Below is a list of achievements, activities and happenings involving UNMC staff, faculty and students.

Robert Muelleman, M.D., professor and chairman of the UNMC Department of Emergency Medicine, has been elected to the board of directors of the American Board of Emergency Medicine. The ABEM is one of 24 medical specialty certification boards recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties, which certifies emergency physicians who meet its educational, professional standing and examination standards.

Michael Crawford, Re.D.

Michael Crawford, Re.D., director of recreational therapy at the Munroe-Meyer Institute recently was selected as an Associate Fellow of the National Academy of Recreational Therapists. The academy pursues activities to support and advance the recreational therapy profession by recognition, education, research, scholarly activity, advocacy and the provision of advice to decision makers.

The following UNMC students received awards at the recent Midwest Student Biomedical Research Forum (student name, award):

  • Wan-Chi Lin, Graduate College Cash Award and the Eppley Cancer Institute Award for Excellence in Cancer Research;
  • Erin Rosenbaugh, Department of Cellular and Integrative Physiology Cash Award;
  • Eric Miller, Department of Pathology and Microbiology Cash Award;
  • Dulce Maroni, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department Cash Award for Best Poster Presentation; and
  • Srustidhar Das, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department Cash Award for Best Oral Presentation.

Katherine Jones, Ph.D., assistant professor of physical therapy education in the School of Allied Health Professions, recently was recognized by the Nebraska Stroke Advisory Council as the 2010 Member of the Year for her outstanding service and dedication. Dr. Jones has been a member of the NSAC since 2006.
