Seven faculty members from Tongji University School of Medicine in Shanghai, China, visited campus earlier this month, where they attended the Association of American Medical Colleges Central Group of Educational Affairs (CGEA) meeting and also met with many faculty, researches and campus leaders including Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D. Collaborative ventures in medical education reform, physical therapy and translational research were among the discussion topics and Guotong Xu, M.D., Ph.D., dean and professor at the Tongji University School of Medicine, presented “Medical education reforming at Tongji University” while on campus.

Gary Beck, instructor and clerkship administrator in the department of pediatrics, received the CGEA Laureate Award at the group’s annual meeting, which was held at UNMC. Beck — program chair for the CGEA — was recognized for his participation in regional medical education. The CGEA is an Association of American Medical Colleges’ group aimed at enhancing medical education in the central region.
