This is especially true for those headed east on Emile Street as the Metropolitan Utilities District works to fix a broken water main near Bennett Hall and The Lied Transplant Center.

The construction will prevent drivers from making left turns off of Emile Street to drive north on 42nd Street.

Two lanes headed east and west on Emile Street will be open for traffic during the construction period but drivers are encouraged to use this thoroughfare sparingly.

“It will be safer for everyone if drivers simply avoid this area and find other ways to travel through campus while construction is underway,” said Nick Combs, director of maintenance, utilities and renovations in UNMC Facilities Management and Planning. “MUD will have a lot of workers in the area and the less traffic we have, the safer they will be.”
