Today, Information Technology Services (ITS) announced a reorganization and elimination of some services in the Department of Biomedical Communications (BMC).
To draw on the natural synergy between the graphics services provided by BMC and those provided in Printing and Duplicating, the BMC graphic artists will be merged with the Printing and Duplicating staff, said Yvette Holly, assistant vice chancellor, Information Technology Services. All graphic services will be located in Printing and Duplicating Services.
“ITS and Printing and Duplicating are confident that the talented staff in this merged entity will continue to provide quality graphic arts and printing services to the UNMC campus,” Holly said. Customers who have questions about work in progress or future graphics requests should contact Lori Fuller at 559-5883.
Photography services
As a result of ongoing and increasing financial challenges, it was necessary to eliminate professional photography services provided by BMC, Holly said. According to Holly, as digital cameras and similar technologies become more cost-effective for departments to own and operate, many areas are performing their own on-location photography services resulting in minimal income to maintain this service. Customers with photography services in progress will be contacted to work through transition issues. Those customers needing future professional photography or framing services may contact the Purchasing Department at 559-5400 for independent contractors.
Video services
Video conferencing services, video production, classroom scheduling and classroom AV support will continue to be provided by ITS. To more accurately reflect these services, the new department name will be ITS Video Services and the department title of Biomedical Communications will no longer be used.
