UNMC’s Department of Business and Finance has reorganized some of its divisions to better meet the challenges of the future and the needs of all customers in an efficient and timely manner.
Carol Kirchner, who has served as director of business systems development, also will provide direction and leadership for General Accounting and Sponsored Programs Accounting. Her new title, director of accounting and business systems development, will better reflect the responsibilities of her current role with SAP and other business systems development, along with her newly assigned accounting functions. The Department of Internal Audit will focus more of its efforts on operational analysis, while continuing to perform some of its traditional audit functions. To better align this new scope, Internal Audit will no longer be a department, but a function in the Office of Budget & Analysis. Manager Steve Geiken will mold the operations to meet the challenges and needs of UNMC, including an emphasis on the financial compliance of federally sponsored programs.
