UNMC radio commercials begin airing March 3

UNMC will air its spring series of radio commercials highlighting research and education beginning Monday, March 3. The commercials will run in three, three-week flights from March 3 through May 11 on stations in Omaha, Lincoln and in communities across the state.

The radio commercials will highlight UNMC researchers Oksana Lockridge, Ph.D., and Gloria Borgstahl, Ph.D. One spot features the work of Dr. Lockridge and her team with the human enzyme butyrylcholinesterase, which neutralizes the effects of nerve gas for soldiers and pesticides for farmers. The other spot features the work of Dr. Borgstahl and her team in the area of mapping proteins through crystallography.

The commercials are part of a communication plan initiated in 1997 to raise Nebraskans awareness of UNMC’s expertise in education and research, said Sandy Goetzinger-Comer, director of public affairs.

The commercials direct listeners to UNMC’s Web site and “The Future is Here” Web page where they can obtain more information about each topic.
