Don’t respond to requests for IDs and passwords

Several UNMC staff members have received an email (similar to the example below) asking them to validate their account by providing their ID/password.

Do not respond!! This is what’s called a Phishing attack, where someone is trying to get confidential information to gain access to your account and UNMC’s systems.

UNMC Information Technology Services will never ask for IDs/passwords in such a manner, and will only do so in the process of troubleshooting.

Reminder: Never give your UNMC ID/passwords through such a link or over the phone. Call the ITS Helpdesk at 559-7700 if you suspect your ID/passwords or your workstation has been compromised.
