Remembering … Randy Cahill

picture disc.Randy Cahill, a physician assistant and later a health data coordinator at UNMC for about 15 years, died Aug. 5 after a long battle with glioblastoma. He was 45.

“Randy was a wonderful person. He was an excellent clinician, peer, father, husband, soldier and community leader,” said Paula Owen, supervisor, transplant midlevels in the UNMC Department of Internal Medicine, Oncology/Hematology.

“Randy was always giving of himself. He spent many years coaching and mentoring in his La Vista community, served his country in the Army reserves, spent his career caring for cancer patients and their families and was dedicated to his friends and family.

“He leaves behind his wife, Karen, and their seven children. He also leaves behind his friends and coworkers here at UNMC who will miss him tremendously.”

A celebration of life was held Wednesday at Jerzee’s Sports Bar & Grill in Papillion and a memorial service will be held today at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church in La Vista. Memorials are requested to Faith Presbyterian Church for the Logos Conference for Church Youth.
