Candidate for vice chancellor position to participate in forum

One of three finalists for a top administrative post at UNMC will take part in an “ask the candidate forum” at 7:30 a.m. CDT Wednesday. Students, faculty and staff are invited to attend.

Patricia M. Sokolove, Ph.D., an associate professor in the department of pharmacology and experimental therapeutics at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, will answer questions during the forum. Dr. Sokolove is one of three finalists for the position of UNMC vice chancellor for academic affairs/dean for graduate studies.

Wednesday’s forum will take place at the Wittson Amphitheater. It will be video-linked for two-way conferencing at the following sites: Lincoln, College of Dentistry, Room 4; Kearney, Room 221, Communications Building; Scottsbluff, Room 205, College of Nursing.

In addition to Dr. Sokolove, the other two finalists for the position are David Crouse, Ph.D., interim vice chancellor for academic affairs/dean for graduate studies and professor in the department of of genetics, cell biology and anatomy at UNMC, and Rubens J. Pamies, M.D., professor and chairman of the department of internal medicine at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tenn.

William Berndt, Ph.D., retired from the position last year. Dr. Berndt currently serves as the chairman of the department of pharmacology.
