Cattlemen’s Ball of Nebraska to Hold Ranch Party

The Cattlemen’s Ball of Nebraska has made plans to hold a Ranch Party on Saturday, May 31, 2003, at the Double D Farm near Ashland. The Party will include a beef brisket barbeque; entertainment by Red Steagall, a cowboy poet and a recording artist; and an auction.

Hosts for this year’s event are David and Dickie Fulkerson of Ashland.

The Cattlemen’s Ball of Nebraska has been held the past five years in Ainsworth, Lexington, Ogallala, Valentine and Valparaiso areas. The ball’s Advisory Board decided to hold a scaled down event this year due to the drought and economic conditions across the state.

Last year’s ball raised $207,000 for cancer research at the UNMC Eppley Cancer Center and $26,493 for health care needs in the Valparaiso area.

The next Cattlemen’s Ball will be held in 2004 at the Upper 84 Ranch near Brady, which is about 20 miles east of North Platte.

Tickets for this event are $100 and are limited to 500 guests. Tickets are available by mail:
