Prioritizing wellness for the UNMC community

Drone images of the University of Nebraska Medical Center campus.

In stressful times, it’s important we take care of ourselves and each other.

The med center places a priority on wellness – providing resources at the ready if any of our faculty, staff and students need to reach out.

See the information below if you’re concerned and wondering where to turn for help for yourself or a colleague.

Wellness support

UNMC offers wellness resources to meet the wide variety of needs of its faculty, staff and learners. Learn more about campus wellness resources.

Resources include:

  • UNMC Counseling and Psychological Services (students)
Call 402-559-7276 year-round to make an appointment (in-person or via Zoom) or with questions. After hours, if someone has a concern and needs help immediately, call the main line at 402-559-7276 and press “2” — CAPS has a contract for outside licensed counselors to take the call.

CAPS also offers:

  • TalkCampus Online Peer Support, which is free and provides 24/7 online support for students. It’s like anonymous social media for mental health. Students can get support or give support to and from students around the globe. Students sign up with their UNMC e-mail address.
  • Bio-feedback and relaxation training.
  • Mental health first aid training.
  • Mental health and wellness self-help resources, including mobile apps, suggested guided meditations and mindfulness exercises.
  • Food pantry resources.

For any students who need support and are not sure where to turn, please email the UNMC Division of Student Success.
