Andrew Faltin, JD, who has experience at the UNMC Division of Student Success, has been announced as UNMC’s new director of the Office of Graduate Studies.
Faltin, who began his new role May 1, returns to UNMC after serving as assistant director of the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s University Honors Program over the last two years.
Faltin said he believes strongly in UNMC’s mission and the incredible work that students in graduate studies accomplish.
“These students have commitments to learning about health and finding ways to improve the human condition,” he said. “They are brilliant and capable of doing incredible things.”
Faltin said he hopes to make the student experience better and more streamlined, which will give students more energy to do amazing things or find balance to lead extraordinary lives.
He added, “There are many people who are committed to making the experience of graduate students outstanding. I want to help the team in any way that I can. The people I am surrounded with are similarly driven, so I am confident we can build on the great things already happening.”
Faltin earned his law degree from the University of Nebraska and received his master’s degree in higher education administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
He has experience working as director of student affairs at Marquette University Law School, as well as previously at UNO in the division of continuing studies and enrollment management.
Faltin first joined UNMC in the Division of Student Success in 2018, moving up to director of operations and strategic initiatives.
Faltin, who also has taught political science at UNL and UNO, currently is an affiliate member of the Interprofessional Academy of Educators at UNMC.
“I am thrilled to welcome Andrew back to UNMC in this new leadership role,” said Karen Gould, PhD, UNMC’s interim dean of graduate studies. “Andrew’s depth of experience in student services, combined with his familiarity with the organization and fresh perspective, position him to serve effectively as the director of the Office of Graduate Studies.”
She added, “I look forward to collaborating with him as we support our programs, students and faculty.”
