Faculty, staff and students are invited to attend campus listening sessions this month for the next UNMC dean of graduate studies.
The virtual listening sessions will be held:
- Tuesday, June 23 from 11 to 11:45 a.m. and again from 2 to 2:45 p.m. See the event listing in the UNMC calendar for links to access the virtual stream.
- Thursday, June 25 from 10 to 10:45 a.m. See the event listing in the UNMC calendar for links to access the virtual stream.
Ken Bayles, PhD, UNMC’s vice chancellor for research and chair of the search committee, will lead the campus listening sessions. In addition to the three open campus sessions, smaller-group sessions will be scheduled on June 23rd and June 25th with invited UNMC faculty, students and staff.
“These listening sessions are specifically designed to learn what the broader campus community wants to see in this new leadership position,” Dr. Bayles said. “It is an opportunity to help define the role this leader will play in developing graduate education here at UNMC in a way that will best prepare our students for a rapidly evolving biomedical landscape.”
Historically, the dean of graduate studies’ responsibilities have been part of the vice chancellor for academic affairs’ role. Now, they will be established as a separate position.
Beginning today (June 15), the campus community also is invited to provide feedback on the position via a confidential online listening session survey. The UNMC Dean, Graduate Studies Listening Session Survey form, will remain open through June 26.
