Pat Jones is a lucky woman. Her dreams come true. Some just take longer than others. Her latest dream took nine years. Jones, assistant coordinator of UNMC’s Low Vision Clinic, who received the Chancellor’s Gold ‘U’ for the month of October, would rather talk about her dream than her award.

Dr. Keith Mueller appointed to eHealth Council
Keith Mueller, Ph.D., associate dean of academic affairs in the UNMC College of Public Health, has been appointed by Gov. Dave Heineman to Nebraska’s newly formed eHealth Council. The appointment was effective in May, and Dr. Mueller will serve on the council until December 2010.

When LeDon Bean, Ph.D., walked onto UNMC’s campus eight years ago as a master’s program student, he brought with him a desire to inspire minority students to follow in his footsteps. Now, with doctorate in hand, he takes that passion to his new post-doc research position at Washington University in St. Louis.

The 2004 Omaha-Metro American Heart Walk is set for Saturday, May 1, at Chalco Hills Recreation area around Wehrspann Lake. Approximately 2,000 people are expected to participate in the ninth annual event. Employees still may sign up for the event.

Administrative Professionals Day a success
Administrative Professionals Day celebration Friday was a big success, with 68 people attending the breakfast and about 210 people attending the lunch. The celebration was sponsored by the UNMC Employee Growth Advocacy Development Organization (EGAD).
