For 30 years, Danita Cyronek has looked out for patients of all ages. On Monday, she officially leaves the UNMC Department of Pediatric Neurology, where she’s served as a pediatric case manager since August 2003.

Garden walkers enjoy Elkhorn botanical displays
Attending the annual Munroe-Meyer Institute Garden Walk has become a yearly tradition for Garry and Nardya Floyd. “We don’t miss this,” Nardya Floyd said. “We pack a lunch and spend the day at the gardens.” The couple was particularly impressed by what they saw Sunday during the 40th version of the garden walk, which supports MMI’s therapeutic, training and research activities benefiting children, youth and adults with developmental disabilities and chronic handicapping conditions.

UNMC PA grad receives high national honor
Army Capt. Patrick Williams is the recipient of the 2007 U.S. Army Surgeon General’s Annual Physician Assistant Recognition Award, which is given to a physician assistant who has made a significant contribution to military medicine.
Williams is a certified physician’s assistant with a degree from UNMC.

Ford leaving UNMC to lead Center for Human Diversity
When Valda Boyd Ford was appointed director of the UNMC Community and Multicultural Affairs Department in 2001, she brought with her a small, little-known diversity planning entity called the Center for Human Diversity (CHD). …
Because of the increasing growth of the CHD and the recent realignment of the Community Partnership, Ford has decided to resign from her position at UNMC and work full-time for the CHD.

Funeral services held Monday for Dr. Wiltse
Funeral services were held Monday in Omaha for Hobart “Hobe” Wiltse, M.D., Ph.D., retired professor in the UNMC Department of Pediatrics, who died on June 6 from lung cancer.
