Allied health alum featured in ASRT Scanner

Multi-program UNMC alumnus Chad Schock, who works for CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island, Nebraska, is featured on the cover of ASRT Scanner magazine. The bimonthly magazine is published by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.

Schock, who is a graduate of the UNMC College of Allied Health Professions’ radiography, CT and MRI programs, leads off the magazine’s cover story: “Creative R.T.s: An Art and a Science.”

Schock is featured for his ability as an artist. He works with “unconventional” materials, including recycled scrapbook paper.

The story reads: “In pursuing his passion for art, Chad discovered that he uses some of the same tools when making art and as an RT (radiologic technologist), such as critical thinking, problem-solving and intuition.”

ASRT Scanner is a trade magazine read by radiography professionals across the country. Tammy Webster, PhD, assistant dean for academic affairs in the UNMC College of Allied Health Professions and professor of radiography, was featured on its June/July 2022 cover.

Schock is on track to graduate from UNMC yet again in May with his master’s degree in Healthcare Delivery Science. He was recently promoted to imaging manager at CHI Health St. Francis.

Tanya Custer, the college’s director of distance education and associate professor of clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic sciences, was excited to see Schock featured on the cover.

“I am extremely proud of Chad and all he has accomplished as a UNMC student in both the college of allied health professions and now in graduate studies,” she said. “Throughout his academic journey, he has shown dedication, hard work and a commitment to lifelong learning. I know he will continue to excel as a leader in central Nebraska and have a profound impact on the profession of medical imaging and therapeutic science.”
