Melody Montgomery, editorial grants specialist in the office of the vice chancellor for research, will give a presentation on “Writing with Focus, Precision and Concision” for the Research Users Group from 2 to 2:50 p.m. June 25 at the Durham Research Center, Room 1004.

With word and page limits placed on scientific writing, it is becoming ever more important to keep writing focused and concise. This RUG session is devoted to offering simple tips to condense writing content while keeping it interesting and understandable.

Montgomery will focus on tools such as activating sentences and eliminating redundancies while still telling a complete story, whether in a grant proposal or manuscript.

Since joining UNMC in 2011, Montgomery has edited more than 70 grant proposals as well as several manuscripts.
