Be alert: Phishing emails arriving in UNMC in-boxes

Someone’s phishing — but don’t take the bait.

Some UNMC employees and students are receiving emails with links asking them to verify account information. Some emails may say you’ve reached your email quota and others may say that someone has tried to access your account.

They then ask you to click on a link to verify your account information.

This is a phishing scheme.

If you receive one of these phishing emails, please delete the email immediately. If you responded to the email, then please change your password immediately by going to the password reset page.

UNMC ITS will not send emails asking you to click on a link to verify your account information. These are phony phishing messages that may contain links to websites that are infected with malware.

For more information on recognizing phishing emails visit the ITS Website or Microsoft. Call the UNMC ITS Helpdesk at 559-7700 if you have additional questions.
