Airport ad spotlights the Durham Research Center

picture disc.Thousands of travelers flying into Omaha are becoming familiar with a new building on the city’s landscape – the Durham Research Center at UNMC.

Hawkins Construction Company is showcasing the DRC in two four-by-six foot backlit signs in the north and south terminal walkways of Eppley Airfield. They have been on display for about three months and will remain for another six months, according to Tracy Mumford, vice president of business development for Hawkins.

The DRC is one of the most recognized and technical jobs Hawkins Construction Company has ever done, he said.

“People are familiar with our yellow trailers out along the interstate,” Mumford said. “We build highways and bridges, but we want people to know how comprehensive our company is – that half our business is constructing buildings too.”

The airport advertisement reads: “From state-of-the-art building projects to the runways, highways and bridges, which link them, Hawkins’ reputation as the region’s most complete contractor is built to one standard – excellence.”

The photo cutline reads: “The world-class Durham Research Center at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Built with pride by the Hawkins Construction team.”

Fred Hawkins, Jr. president and co-owner of Hawkins, said, “Hawkins Construction Company is very proud to have been the construction manager for the world-class Durham Research Center. It is a project that we hold in the highest regard as it demonstrates Hawkins Construction Company’s excellence in building.”
