LiveGreen: Spring lawn and garden care

After presenting at two LiveGreen Scene events in 2013 — summer lawn and garden care and the other on fall/winter prep lawn and garden care — John Fech of the UNL Extension Office and Backyard Farmer fame will return to UNMC this week.

With the weather changing, LiveGreen invited Fech back to fill us in on what we need to know in the spring.

Fech will present this Thursday, May 1, in the DRC Auditorium (1002) at noon. His spring tips will include:

  • Turf Math – Know what and how much to apply for a healthy turf.
  • Potted salad plants and herbs – Grow options for your health.
  • Watering trees, shrubs, veggies – Tools for efficient watering.

If you have specific questions about items in your yard, he will leave plenty of time to answer all your questions when his presentation is complete.

Pizza from Sgt. Peffers will be provided for the first 50 attendees. You are invited to bring your own drink (preferably in a reusable container) and can bring your own lunch if you wish.

If you are unable to leave your desk at this time, we will live-stream Fech’s presentation here. (The link will go live approximately 10 minutes before the presentation starts at noon. If you can’t watch at that time, it will be available for viewing any time at any place here. (Please allow 48 hours after the presentation for it to be loaded.) You will need Quick Time on your computer to watch this presentation and can download it here. If you have issues viewing it, please contact the ITS helpdesk at 9-7700.
