The Graduate Student Association will host a presentation by Susan Carson, Ph.D., of Smart Leadership Coaching, from noon to 1 p.m. Friday in the Eppley Science Hall auditorium.

The presentation is part of the GSA’s continuing efforts to enhance the professional development of UNMC’s graduate students, said event organizer Heather Talbott.

Dr. Carson is a scientist, author and coach who specializes in developing leadership and communication skills for scientists and technology professionals to leverage their knowledge into power and drive them toward the career results they want.

“One of the things she has that not everyone does is that she’s worked in academic settings, as a teacher, in the pharmaceutical industry, in business and as an entrepreneur,” Talbott said. “Her experience makes it easier for her to talk about the differences in these type of professions, and what type of personalities would do well in each of these fields.”

The GSA will provide Panera Bread lunches for the first 100 graduate students in attendance at the noon seminar.
