Skywalk construction updates

Work continues on the new Emile Street skywalk connecting the Durham Outpatient Center (DOC) with the Lot 50 employee parking structure.

The steel framework for the structure was set in place in May, and construction crews are working to enclose it and make final connections to adjacent buildings. The skywalk will be ready for use by early 2016. As construction progresses, drivers and pedestrians are asked to exercise caution and pay attention to posted signage as changes will be ongoing.

DOC circle drive to close this Sunday
The DOC circle drive will be closed this Sunday, July 19. The glass work that requires the closure may not take all day, and construction teams will re-open the drive and the street as soon as possible. During the closure, the Lot 2 parking structure adjacent to the DOC will only be accessible from the 45th Street entrance. Lot 50, at the south side of Emile Street, will be available for patient and visitor parking during the circle drive closure. This work is being done on Sundays to minimize the impact to patients, visitors and staff during busier weekday times.

Reminder: Emile Street lane closures
The south driving lane, adjacent sidewalk and pedestrian crosswalk along Emile Street, west of the DOC circle drive, are closed. Two driving lanes will remain open. Employees parking in Lot 50 are asked to use the east crosswalk at Emile Street during this time. This closure is anticipated to last through fall 2015.
