Beginning Monday, the Lot 50 employee parking — across from the Durham Outpatient Center (DOC) — will undergo lobby renovations as part of the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center and Emile Street Skywalk project.
The phased construction within the lobbies includes all levels: A, B, C, and D. All levels will remain open for elevator and stairwell access, although construction team members may need to reroute foot traffic based on the daily schedule. This renovation is anticipated to be completed in September.
In addition to the Lot 50 stairwell and lobby improvements, ongoing work continues within the Lot 2 parking structure and stairwells and lobbies. These upgrades include structural maintenance, surface coatings, painting, lighting, wayfinding and lobby finishes. This work is being phased and will span into 2016.
Construction work continues on the Emile Street Skywalk connecting the DOC and Lot 50. Crews are completing electrical and roofing preparation and glass installation that began the week of June 29. The skywalk is on track for completion by end of the year.
