The Midwest Student Biomedical Research Forum will offer students a chance to showcase their work.

Registration is now open for the 47th Midwest Student Biomedical Research Forum (MSBRF), to be held on March 5 in Omaha.

Faculty reviewers needed

UNMC and the Creighton University Medical Center are seeking faculty reviewers for the 47th Midwest Student Biomedical Research Forum (MSBRF), to be held on March 5.

The forum depends on volunteer faculty support from both UNMC and CU to review and critique abstracts prior to the forum and to judge oral and poster presentations the day of the forum. Each abstract is evaluated by three judges prior to the forum and the actual presentations on March 5 also will be scored by three different judges.

Interested faculty should complete this form. Please be as specific as possible when indicating areas of qualification and interest for judging.

Please return the form by Dec. 11.

Students are invited to participate in MSBRF, which provides an opportunity for young researchers from the health sciences, graduate, intern and resident programs throughout the Midwestern region of the United States and Canada to present their work in the biomedical sciences.

The forum gives students the opportunity to have their work reviewed and evaluated by faculty outside their own institution.

MSBRF provides the option of presenting research in either an oral or poster format, allowing students to present their research in their preferred format. Each abstract submitted to MSBRF is subject to the same type of peer review applied to the selection of manuscripts for publication in major scientific journals.

Abstract submission information is available here. This includes “Guidelines for Abstract Submission,” “Preregistration Form,” “Hotel Information,” “Sample Judging Forms,” “Online Registration” and more detailed information about the forum. The deadline for abstract submission is Dec. 11.

Participants are responsible for their own lodging and transportation costs and arrangements. Meals that are included in the registration price are the continental breakfast, lunch and the Award Banquet Dinner on Saturday for the presenter. Additional tickets are available for purchase for guests.
