An “Honor and Remember” flag sponsored by the UNMC College of Nursing Class of 2014 recently was presented to the family of Thomas Franklin Christ. The Honor and Remember Nebraska Chapter presents special flags to families of the fallen as a tangible national symbol of gratitude and a visible reminder that perpetually recognizes the sacrifice of military members who die while serving in the military. Tom Christ enlisted in the Navy in 1969. After two years of combat duty in Vietnam, Christ served in Hawaii, San Diego, and Great Lakes, Ill. While in Great Lakes, he became ill with stomach cancer, thought to be as a result of exposure to Agent Orange. He died Jan. 14, 1979.
