Symposium celebrates UNMC-China collaboration

The 7th Annual Sino-U.S. Joint Research Symposium will be held this week on UNMC’s campus.

The symposium is organized by UNMC and its partners in China, including the Chinese Academy of Sciences and China Pharmaceutical University. This year’s topic is “Drug Discovery and Delivery.” It will be held from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Center for Nursing Science on the Omaha campus.

The featured presentation will be “Ebola Virus Disease: Biology and Therapeutics,” presented by Sina Bavari, Ph.D., whose work was recently published in Nature. Dr. Bavari is the chief scientific officer/scientific director at the US Army Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID).

The symposium will feature three presentation sessions with nine speakers in the morning and an afternoon poster session to be held from 1-3 p.m. in the CNS atrium. A short roundtable discussion will focus on the best ways to pursue collaboration in China.
