Dr. Klepser named to PCORI advisory panel
Don Klepser, Ph.D., associate professor of pharmacy at the UNMC College of Pharmacy, a nationally recognized managed care pharmacy expert, has been appointed to an influential advisory panel of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), based on joint nominations by the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) and the AMCP Foundation. He will serve on PCORI’s Advisory Panel on Addressing Disparities. Dr. Klepser has been an AMCP member since 2006.

Retirements announced

The UNMC Department of Human Resources has released a list of retirements spanning the period between Aug. 19 – Oct. 7. Four of the retirees logged more than 30 years. They include: Bert Van Oeveren, business services, 35 years; Debra Flearl, Munroe-Meyer Institute psychology, 33 years; Debra Lytle, pathology/microbiology, 32 years; and David Melliger, radiology, 30 years. Here’s the complete list of retirees:

  • Bert Van Oeveren, business services, retired Sept. 1 (start date Aug. 18, 1981)
  • Debra Flearl, Munroe-Meyer Institute Psychology, retired Sept. 1 (start date Feb. 10, 1983)
  • Debra Lytle, pathology/microbiology, retired Aug. 19 (start date Jan. 28, 1984)
  • David Melliger, radiology, retired Sept. 1 (start date Jan. 1, 1986)
  • Arne Moluf, accounts payable, will retire Oct. 7 (start date Oct. 13, 1987)
  • Daniel Richardson, facilities management and planning-utilities, retired Sept. 2 (start date Nov. 28, 1994)
  • Serguei Vinogradov, Ph.D., College of Pharmacy Pharmaceutical Science, retired Aug. 26 (start date March 26, 1996)
  • Thomas Birk, ITS Learning Environment/Internet Services, will retire Sept. 9 (start date Sept. 8, 1998)
  • Linda Sather, Ed.D., College of Nursing Omaha Division, retired Aug. 23 (start date July 1, 1999)

Dr. Wilson to speak at Nebraska Research & Innovation Conference
Tony Wilson, Ph.D., is among the featured presenters at the Nebraska Research & Innovation Conference’s Oct. 13 Symposium on Biomechanics at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Thompson Alumni Center. The conference is free, but participants must register to attend (or present a poster), by Oct. 5. For details, including the symposium agenda, click here. Dr. Wilson is scientific director of the Center for Magnetoencephalography (MEG) and an associate professor in the UNMC Department of Neurological Sciences and the Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Neuroscience.

Portion of 45th Street closed on Saturday
The portion of 45th Street between the Durham Research Center and the parking garage will be closed Saturday from 7 a.m. to approximately 3 p.m. The parking garage entrance on the west side will not be accessible.

Conferences on brain informatics and health, web intelligence join forces
From Oct. 13-16, Omaha will host the 2016 International Conference on Brain Informatics & Health and the International Conference on Web Intelligence at the Hilton Omaha. Supported by the University of Nebraska at Omaha College of Information Science and Technology, the conference is expecting nearly 300 professionals, academics and industry members from around the globe.
