Grab your walking shoes and join Heisman Trophy winner Eric Crouch on Sunday, Jan. 30 to support the UNMC Munroe-Meyer Institute’s “Walk & Roll for Disabilities,” a benefit to raise money to provide recreational and respite services for adults with developmental disabilities.

One lucky UNMC or The Nebraska Medical Center employee who enters the walk or sponsors a walker will win an autographed limited edition football signed by Crouch. The 2001 Heisman Trophy winner and former Nebraska Cornhusker Quarterback will serve as honorary captain for the Jan. 30 event.

The event, sponsored by the C. Louis Meyer Foundation, will be held inside Westroads Mall, 102nd Street & West Dodge Road, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Walkers should park and enter the Mall on the east side of JC Penney Co. Inc., and Dick’s Sporting Goods. Children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families also will participate in the walk, some with the assistance of wheelchairs and therapy dogs.

Organizers hope to raise $100,000.

If you would like to walk in the event, organize a team of walkers, or make a donation, contact Karol Colbert at 559-5771 or kcolbert@unmc.edu.

Individuals also may register for the walk by stopping by the table outside of the Nebraska Café on the third floor of University Tower from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jan. 11 and 13, or get a registration form at: http://www.unmc.edu/mmi/.

Walkers are encouraged to register by Jan. 14, but may register anytime, including the day of the event. The cost is $15 per person and includes a T-shirt.
