Lookin’ at U: Anne Skinner

Anne Skinner

Anne Skinner

Each Thursday, we randomly feature a medical center employee.
This week, we learn more about:

  • Name: Anne Skinner
  • Hometown: Brazil, Ind.
  • Number of years at UNMC: Almost 14 years

Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.
I am an assistant professor in the College of Allied Health Professions in research administration. As a health informatician and data analyst, my research focus is assisting organizations in turning health care data into information into knowledge into wisdom. I’m a member of the CAPTURE Falls research team working to reduce fall risk in small rural hospitals.

Accountability is one of UNMC’s ITEACH values. Tell us of a time you witnessed a person or group at UNMC exhibit this value.
I see accountability every day in my work here at UNMC. My research team members support each other in meeting project goals through accountability to one another. We strive to learn from our past experiences and move forward with that knowledge.

What is your favorite spring activity?
I’m a wannabe mushroom hunter, but, unfortunately, I haven’t found any yet. It’s all about the journey.

List three things people may not know about you.

  • I like to be an early adopter. I was a geo-cacher before Pokemon Go ever began.
  • My favorite stress release is going out on the kayak at all times of day and all types of weather.
  • I have two sons; one plays the tuba in Big Red Express at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and the other is a drummer in a band called Salt Creek.
