Sue Logsdon

Each Thursday, we feature a med center employee. Today we meet:

  • Name: Sue Logsdon
  • Hometown: Barberton, Ohio
  • No. of years at UNMC: 12

Tell us about what you do here at UNMC.
I work in the Office of Regulatory Affairs as an Institutional Review Board/Institutional Biosafety Committee (IRB/IBC) administrator. I also serve as the compliance coordinator for the IRB. When I wear my “IRB administrator hat,” my main responsibility is reviewing research involving the use of human biological materials, as well as, those that study exercise and movement. As the compliance coordinator, I am responsible for reviewing and investigating all incidents/allegations of noncompliance and research-related complaints.

Accountability is one of UNMC’s ITEACH values: “Commit, Take ownership. Be resilient, transparent and honest. Always do the right thing and continuously learn.” Tell us of a time you witnessed a person or group at UNMC exhibit this value.
I truly have the good fortune of working as part of team where I get to witness dedicated professionals practicing the ITEACH values every day. Their commitment to assisting investigators as best they can, while ensuring that the research being done meets all federal regulatory requirements, is second to none.

What is your favorite summer activity?
My favorite summer activity is spending time on our deck with good friends enjoying great food and drinks.

List three things people may not know about you.

  • I played Division I basketball at Virginia Tech.
  • I am addicted to power tools and love doing woodwork and home projects.
  • I once got up on stage with a blues band in New Orleans and played the harmonica.
