UNMC’s Coburn receives Excellence in Medicine Leadership Award

The College of Public Health Student Affairs officers were installed May 16. UNMC’s Brian Coburn, a third-year medical student, is a recipient of a 2017 Excellence in Medicine Leadership Award from the American Medical Association Foundation. The award was given as part of the AMA Foundation’s Excellence in Medicine Awards program on June 9 during the AMA annual meeting in Chicago. Coburn has served as co-president of UNMC’s SHARING Clinics, student-run free health clinics, and also has served as the national coordinator for the Society of Student-Run Free Clinics, helping it become an independent nonprofit organization. He now serves on its board of directors. The AMA Foundation’s Excellence in Medicine Awards program recognizes physicians who exemplify the highest values of volunteerism, community engagement, leadership and dedication to the care of underserved populations.

Registration closes July 6 for pharmacological conference
Registration closes July 6 for the 22nd Annual Pharmacological Conference for Advanced Practice Providers to be held July 13 and 14. The 2017 Pharmacological Management of Clients Across the Lifespan Conference is live in Omaha with video broadcast to Kearney, Lincoln, Norfolk and Scottsbluff. Targeted toward nurse practitioners, advanced nurse practitioners, physician assistants, primary care providers and other interested health care professionals, the conference will enable the learner to use state-of-the-art clinical knowledge about pharmacology to manage selected, complex, acute and chronic patient populations across the life span.
