New email security feature effective Aug. 1

The Nebraska Medicine and UNMC email teams and information security are implementing a new security feature beginning Aug 1.

When you receive emails from outside the Nebraska Medicine and UNMC organizations, the new security feature will include the following statement. “CAUTION: This email is not from a UNMC or Nebraska Medicine source. Only click links or open attachments you know are safe.”

    This is annoying and insulting.

I totally support the need for protection against cyber threats to our campus, however, there needs to be a way to establish a safe list from emails coming in from other entities that have a legitimate business purpose with UNMC, such as emails coming from other facilities (Children's, Methodists, etc.), additionally we are receiving this notice on emails notifications from software we use such as PerfectServe and New Innovations. This new system also blocks legitimate content in some cases making it difficult to complete work tasks. Lastly if they could eliminate the notification once you reply and additional emails come back that would also be helpful. I agree with the comment below…it is very annoying!
