Pilot study funding now available through CENTRIC

Pilot study funding up to $50,000 is available in fall 2018 through the Center for Patient Family and Community Engagement in Chronic Care Management (CENTRIC).

A request for applications (RFA) was released on April 23 and is available at the CENTRIC website. The due date for letters of intent (LOI) is July 16; for applications, the due date is Aug. 20.

The purpose of the CENTRIC pilot grant program is to support research in any area that will support patient, family and community engagement in management of chronic conditions. The award is designed to lay the foundation for larger requests to funding sources external to the University of Nebraska. Preference may be given to those who coordinate with community partners.

Requirements:

  • An interdisciplinary team that consists of a College of Nursing full-time faculty member as principal investigator or Co-PI, and includes members from two other departments/colleges, in addition to a statistician.
  • The focus of the research should be a highly significant topic and use interventions.
  • Must include significance, innovation, and approach to the research proposed.
  • Competitive applications will incorporate research methodologies to include the use of technology.

CENTRIC is requesting a LOI (maximum of two pages), due no later than July 16, to include:

  • project title;
  • principal investigator (PI);
  • co-investigator(s);
  • mentor(s);
  • participating institution(s);
  • study aim(s);
  • hypotheses;
  • methods (brief overview of design, sample, measures, statistical analysis plan);
  • a statement addressing how the project advances self-management in chronic care; and
  • the PI(s) NIH bio sketch.

Those invited to submit full applications will be notified no later than July 24. Applicants should email letters of intent and NIH bio sketches as a single PDF document to CENTRIC.

Solicited applications will be due on Aug. 20.
