The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research will host a retirement tea for Deb Vetter, director of sponsored programs, from 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, in the Linder Reading Room at the Sorrell Center.

Vetter, who has been at UNMC since 2001, will retire on Aug. 15.

“Deb Vetter directed Sponsored Programs Administration during UNMC’s fastest growth of its grants and contracts ever recorded, both through the period of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and more recently with a sustained increase in federal and all other types of research funding,” said Jennifer Larsen, M.D., vice chancellor for research. “She has been a steady hand through change, pretty unflappable during times of stress, and always willing to jump in to help with the unexpected.

“She has hired and mentored a lot of staff, including several that have gone on to other leadership positions across the campus,” Dr. Larsen said. “We are thankful for everything she has done for UNMC and all wish her the best as she moves to be closer to her family.”

The campus is invited to Tuesday’s event.

Deb has been so very helpful as we've worked over the last year to get the Child Health Research Institute up and running. We have appreciated her wisdom and expert guidance! She will be missed, but we are happy that she will be spending time with her family. Best wishes Deb!
