Nebraska Science Festival seeks volunteers

The Nebraska Science Festival is returning for its eighth year.

This year, the festival will run from April 3-26, and the event is in need of volunteers.

Festival volunteers are needed throughout the duration of the month to assist with:

  • set-up;
  • exhibitor assistance;
  • promotion;
  • general festival assistance; and
  • much more.

Immediate needs include volunteers for the student expos on April 16 and 24.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Each volunteer must pick up their packet containing information about their volunteer duties and a T-shirt to wear while volunteering for the event. Packet pickup will be in March at UNMC’s 4230 Building, on the corner of 42nd and Leavenworth streets. (Pickup dates and times will be announced.)

If you are interested in volunteering, complete this short volunteer form. A confirmation will be sent to you shortly after you complete the application form.

“The Nebraska Science Festival could not happen without the support of dedicated volunteers,” said Kacie Baum, UNMC events and science outreach coordinator. “We appreciate our volunteers’ efforts to help introduce Nebraska’s students to the exciting world of science.”

Presented by UNMC, the Nebraska Science Festival is a growing collaboration interested in the advancement of science literacy. The Science Festival is designed to make science accessible, interactive, relevant and fun for kids and adults alike.

In addition to UNMC, the 2020 Nebraska Science Festival is sponsored by the Nebraska Coalition for Lifesaving Cures, Metro Credit Union, and media sponsors KETV and the Omaha World-Herald.
