Dr. Sebastian said Dr. Lally is a highly productive researcher and educator.

“Her program of research aims to find ways to support the psychosocial adjustment of people with cancer diagnoses,” she said. “Dr. Lally is highly qualified to assume this role and I am delighted that she accepted. The college’s research activities and the support of faculty researchers and their teams will have access to superb leadership from Dr. Lally.” Dr. Lally and Elizabeth Reed, M.D., UNMC breast cancer physician, are co-principal investigators on a National Comprehensive Cancer Center Network/Pfizer grant to support care for rural women under 50 with breast cancer diagnoses.

Dr. Lally also has had funding from the IDeA-CTR to evaluate E-health innovations with communication, and from the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center to evaluate feasibility of “Caring Guidance” with rural women.

“I am honored to accept this appointment and for the opportunity to support the College of Nursing’s mission to transform lives through innovative research,” Dr. Lally said. “I will continue to work with faculty and students to support research that is clinically translatable, multidisciplinary and which addresses multiple gaps in health equity. I am grateful to Dr. Berger for her leadership and mentorship, and look forward to a smooth transition in the coming months.”

Dr. Lally serves in various teaching and academic leadership roles and has presented widely at regional, national and international scientific conferences.
