Robin Lally, Ph.D., has been appointed to serve as interim associate dean for research research in the College of Nursing, effective July 1. Dr. Lally will transition into the role that Ann Berger, Ph.D., has held since 2015.
Dr. Lally, a professor in the UNMC College of Nursing who teaches in the Ph.D. program, joined the college in 2016.
Dr. Sebastian said Dr. Lally is a highly productive researcher and educator.
“Her program of research aims to find ways to support the psychosocial adjustment of people with cancer diagnoses,” she said. “Dr. Lally is highly qualified to assume this role and I am delighted that she accepted. The college’s research activities and the support of faculty researchers and their teams will have access to superb leadership from Dr. Lally.”
Dr. Lally also has had funding from the IDeA-CTR to evaluate E-health innovations with communication, and from the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center to evaluate feasibility of “Caring Guidance” with rural women.
“I am honored to accept this appointment and for the opportunity to support the College of Nursing’s mission to transform lives through innovative research,” Dr. Lally said. “I will continue to work with faculty and students to support research that is clinically translatable, multidisciplinary and which addresses multiple gaps in health equity. I am grateful to Dr. Berger for her leadership and mentorship, and look forward to a smooth transition in the coming months.”
Dr. Lally serves in various teaching and academic leadership roles and has presented widely at regional, national and international scientific conferences. She has 34 peer-reviewed publications, four book chapters and 16 non peer-reviewed publications. In recognition of her research, she received the 2019 UNMC College of Nursing Pennie Z. Davis Award for Nursing Research.
