In September, David Satcher, M.D., Ph.D., left, and Rubens Pamies, M.D., right, visited with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich at the Fifth Annual Primary Care and Prevention Conference in Atlanta. Drs. Satcher and Pamies co-authored a book on medical disparities, and Gingrich discussed some of the disparities in his panel discussion at the conference.

On Saturday, Feb. 11, Rubens Pamies, M.D., UNMC vice chancellor for academic affairs and dean of graduate studies, and David Satcher, M.D., Ph.D., interim president of Morehouse School of Medicine and former U.S. Surgeon General, will give a special presentation and sign copies of their book, “Multicultural Medicine and Health Disparities.”

Medical center students, faculty and staff are invited to attend the special presentation and book signing from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Durham Research Center Auditorium on the UNMC campus. Copies of the book will be available for purchase.

Since the book’s publication in September, a number of medical colleges and health science programs have committed to placing the book in their curriculum. This is Dr. Satcher’s first visit to Omaha since the book’s release. He and Dr. Pamies held a book signing in October at the book’s national public debut in Atlanta.
