IT seeks help in video platform shift

To reduce duplication of video platform systems, the Department of Information Technology will discontinue the Helix Media Library (HML) video storage and distribution platform by Dec. 31 of this year.

IT has been working toward standardizing to one video platform, the Echo360 Active Learning Platform (ALP). As part of this process, many users of the HML platform already have been contacted via email to begin the video migration process. But the department does not have current contact information for many of the videos. Some of these videos date back to 2012 and the original requestor is no longer available.

Colleagues who have not been contacted and have videos stored on HML platform can call video operations at 402-559-8090.

As many videos as possible will be deleted rather than transferred to Echo360 ALP. Many of these videos have never been viewed, show outdated information or no longer serve their original audience.

IT is requesting help to identify which videos need to be removed or retained, which will take a concerted effort on everyone’s part. Many webmasters will need to update links on their internal and external websites.

Videos are sorted into folders by departments or colleges. You can check here: http://hml.unmc.edu/
