University policy provides leave for voting

The University of Nebraska system allows up to two hours of paid civil leave to vote in public elections, if circumstances prevent an employee from voting at any other time. Read UNMC’s policy.

Election day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. If civil leave is needed, the employee should work with their manager regarding their work schedule. If such time is used, employees should select “civil leave’ when submitting their Firefly request.

“Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to vote in the upcoming election,” said Aileen Warren, associate vice chancellor of human resources. “Casting of votes is one of the most important rights we have.”
