Beta access to new library catalog begins Monday

UNMC's redesigned library will have a new electronic catalog, in beta next week and debuting in December.

UNMC's redesigned library will have a new electronic catalog, in beta next week and debuting in December.

On Oct. 29, UNMC IT asked the McGoogan Health Sciences Library to shut down the server that hosts the library’s catalog of books and electronic resources. Beginning Nov. 9, the library will provide beta access to a new catalog that will officially debut on Dec. 21.

This access will provide discovery of print and electronic collections, as well as anatomical models. Users will be able to request items for checkout after contacting askus@unmc.edu for an account. With the catalog in beta, users may encounter issues when searching the interface. This provides an opportunity to identify and correct problems before the official Dec. 21 launch. Users are encouraged to report issues through this online form.

Holdings represented in the catalog are current as of July. Books that are not available can be requested via interlibrary loan. The holdings of the other NU libraries also will be visible, but only for informational purposes at this time.

By bringing up this new system in beta, the library will continue to provide the UNMC community with access to check out materials and view its print holdings during this interim period.
