UNMC for the record

Joe Kaminski to oversee Center for Healthy Living, UNO Campus Recreation

The Center for Healthy Living (CFHL) and the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Campus Recreation have established a one-campus recreation solution for the two campuses.

The dual operation is being overseen by Joe Kaminski, director of campus recreation. There will be no change in membership benefits at either campus.

Jayme Nekuda has stepped away from her long tenure of overseeing the CFHL. She will continue to provide HR leadership by overseeing the UNMC Benefits Department, the Employee Assistance Program and the UNMC Child Development Center. In July, she also took over the oversight of the UNO Benefits Department and the UNO Employee Assistance Program.

For questions related to the CFHL, contact Joe Kaminski.

42nd Street to close on campus Nov. 7

UNMC facilities will close 42nd Street from Dewey Avenue to Emile Street on Saturday, Nov. 7, for work on Wittson Hall. Detours will be marked, and the work is expected to take only one day.

College of Nursing to host event for prospective students

The UNMC College of Nursing will host a virtual event Tuesday, Nov. 10, to give prospective students a closer look at its doctoral nursing programs — the doctor of philosophy (PhD) and doctor of nursing practice (DNP) degrees. The degrees can help advance nursing careers.

Faculty and college representatives will be available to discuss degree choices, financing and juggling life as a student.

A PhD prepares individuals for leadership roles in research, education, practice, health policy and administration. The DNP prepares nurses in advanced clinical expertise, quality improvement, patient safety and health systems change.

The session will be held from 4:30-6 p.m.

Participation is online via Zoom, meeting ID: 982 6101 6333 and passcode 064813.

Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP.
