Advocate Eli Rigatuso, a Nebraska native, will speak on the topic of “Challenging Ideas of Gender Norms” on Wednesday from noon-1 p.m. via Zoom (Meeting ID: 936 1158 5300. Passcode: 692526).
Rigatuso’s speech is hosted by the Munroe-Meyer Institute Diversity and Inclusion Council.
Rigatuso has been an outspoken advocate for the LGBTQ+ community for the better part of his life. It wasn’t until he came out as Two Spirit and transgender at the age of 50 in 2015 that he realized how all of the intersections of his identity had been used against him not only by folks outside of the community but also within it.
Rigatuso had no idea he was in for the fight of his life, and he will share the story with the UNMC community.
