Governor looking to fill slots on boards and commissions

Gov. Dave Heineman is looking for qualified Nebraskans to fill positions on several state boards and commissions, some of which deal with health care.

Among the organizations that will have open spots in the coming months are the Developmental Disabilities Advisory Committee, Problem Gambling and Addiction Services, the Substance Abuse Advisory Council and the Rural Health Advisory Commission.

Heineman will review applications and appoint selected people to the fill the openings.

“We have many people on campus who would be great for some of these openings,” said Renee Fry, UNMC Director of Government Relations.

UNMC personnel interested in serving on a commission or board can contact Fry at 559-6668 or at rafry@unmc.edu for information about and assistance with applications for such positions.

“These boards and commissions allow people to use their talents and time to make an impact at a statewide level,” Fry said. “Many have found serving in such positions to be rewarding and exciting.”
