Alexander “Sasha” Kabanov, Ph.D., will speak about nanomedicine today at a clinical and translational research seminar at noon in the Eppley Science Hall Amphitheater. The seminar will be the first in a monthly series devoted to discussing clinical and translational research.

A new seminar series focused on clinical and translational research kicks off Monday at noon in the Eppley Science Hall Amphitheater.

The one-hour seminars — which will be held at noon on the fourth Monday of each month — are aimed at bringing clinical and basic science investigators from across the university together to identify new ways to collaborate and answer important clinical questions.

The seminars will be videotaped and available for investigators who cannot attend. The seminars also will be televised at the following sites:

  • Dixon Lecture Hall (Room 16F) at the College of Dentistry in Lincoln;
  • College of Nursing in Lincoln, Room 307;
  • College of Nursing in Scottsbluff, Panhandle Station Room 203;
  • College of Nursing in Kearney, CMCT 216; and
  • College of Nursing in Omaha, Room 4078.

“Increasing UNMC’s clinical and translational research capabilities is a main emphasis in the Chancellor’s Strategic Plan and is essential in our push to become a world-class academic health science center,” said Jennifer Larsen, M.D., associate dean for clinical research in the College of Medicine. “I encourage people from all disciplines to attend these seminars and learn how we can become stronger in this vital aspect of biomedical research.”

Alexander “Sasha” Kabanov, Ph.D., Parke-Davis Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences and director of the Center for Drug Delivery and Nanomedicine, will be the series’ first presenter with a lecture titled “”Nanomedicine: From Bench to Bedside.”

If you have any questions about the seminars or a desire to present at a future seminar, please contact Brian Shotwell at bshotwell@unmc.edu or Dr. Larsen at jlarsen@unmc.edu.
