UNMC’s James Sorrell, M.D., left, and Damian Montez host “Sunday Night Shrink Rap” from 8 to 9 p.m. on KQCH-FM (94.1). Sunday’s show will air from 7 to 9 p.m. and focus on issues related to the Westroads Mall shooting.

“Shrink Rap,” a weekly radio show that provides a forum for adolescents and young adults to anonymously discuss their problems, will feature a special two-hour program this week devoted strictly to the Westroads Mall shootings.

The special program will air from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9, on KQCH-FM (94.1). Jim Sorrell, M.D., a psychiatrist at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and Damian Montez are co-hosts of the program, which normally runs from 8 to 9 p.m. on Sundays.

“The Westroads incident had a profound impact on the entire community,” Dr. Sorrell said. “We think our program will provide an opportunity for some of the youth in our community to call in and share their thoughts and concerns. It’s just another way we can help our community heal after this terrible tragedy.”

“Shrink Rap” will celebrate its third anniversary in February. The show is part of the Journal Broadcast Group’s ongoing effort to develop local programming that makes a difference in the community.

For its service to the community, Shrink Rap has received awards from the Nebraska Broadcasters Association for the past two years.
