Wind trio to perform during Music as Medicine concert

A trio of woodwind performers will present 20th century pieces during today’s Music as Medicine concert at noon in the Durham Outpatient Center West Atrium.

Susan Hatch Tomkiewicz will perform on oboe, Susan Govier will play clarinet and Jonathan Biccum will be on bassoon as the trio runs through selections from composers Alexandre Tansman, Erwin Schulhoff, Jacques Ibert and Jean Francaix.

All three performers are members of the Omaha Chamber Music Society.

Hatch Tomkiewicz is a faculty member at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where she teaches oboe and music appreciation.

Govier is a professional musician who peforms with the United States Air Force’s Heartland of America Band Concert Band, Ceremonial Band and Clarinet Quartet.

Biccum is the principal bassoonist with the Heartland of America Band and was appointed artist faculty at UNO last fall.

UNMC employees and students are encouraged to bring lunch and enjoy the concert, which is sponsored by UNMC Physicians.

April’s concert will be sponsored by the UNMC Chancellor’s Office and will feature Omaha jazz singer Heidi Joy.
