Million-step Monday — Carstens, Dailey repeat, keep shoes

picture disc. The dust on the trail to Chimney Rock settles Wednesday, and when it does, a couple familiar faces will hold the Gold and Silver Shoes.

Julie Carstens of the Munroe-Meyer Institute cruised to an easy win in April by walking 600,867 steps and Jill Dailey of the department of ophthalmology and visual sciences walked 412,647 steps to earn the Silver Shoe.

Carstens and Dailey also were the Gold and Silver Shoe winners in March.

As was noted previously in UNMC Today, being April winners, Carstens and Dailey get to keep the shiny footwear. And no, I didn’t just write, “Carson Daily gets to keep the shoes.” ; )

On to other news, the last day to log steps for the 1 Million Step Challenge is Wednesday. Those who want to turn in step totals to claim prizes have until Friday to do so.

And so I think that’s going do it for the UNMC 1 Million Step Challenge.

On behalf of the crew here, I’d like to thank you for walking, logging steps and sending pictures from your various travels. It’s hard to believe it’s been a year already. It’s been fun.

As we’ve noted in previous articles, the point of the challenge was to help people get and stay active and we certainly hope that has been the case.

So, until Jayme Nekuda concocts another campuswide wellness conspiracy, I wish you happy trails!
