Governor looking to fill slots on boards and commissions

Gov. Dave Heineman is looking for qualified Nebraskans to fill positions on several state boards and commissions, some of which deal with health care.

Among the organizations that will have open spots in the coming months are the Child Abuse Prevention Fund Board, Substance Abuse Advisory Council and the Nursing Home Advisory Council.

Heineman will review applications and appoint selected people to the fill the openings.

The requirements for board personnel are set forth in state statutes, so applicants must meet specific criteria unique to each commission or board.

UNMC personnel interested in serving on a commission or board should contact Sara Cizek Going in the Office of Government Relations at 559-6671 or scizek@unmc.edu.

“These boards and commissions call on people to use their skills and experience to shape policy statewide,” said Mark Bowen, UNMC’s director of Government Relations. “Many have found serving in such positions to be fulfilling.”
