The newly formed UNMC Employee Safety Committee will meet quarterly and aims to promote a safe working environment at the medical center.

UNMC has formed a new employee safety committee to focus on safety issues and concerns of students and staff, UNMC Director of Business Services Keith Swarts has announced.

The committee is composed of staff employees and management employees from various units on campus.

The committee meets quarterly and aims to promote a safe working environment with employee involvement.

It will give employees a direct voice in addressing safety concerns throughout the campus.

The employee safety committee will help communicate information, field employee concerns, investigate accidents and concerns and help develop new or improve methods for providing a safe workplace.

“With all the growth and development on campus, it is very important that we all make safety a part of our jobs,” UNMC Safety Manager John Hauser said. “The Employee Safety Committee will help increase safety awareness and provide another avenue to indentify and address concerns.”
